Once in a while, I catch a glimpse of the news. It's pretty much the same as 35 years ago. War. Political conflict. Stock market. And if we're lucky, a nice little story about somebody doing something good at the end, presented with a neat little bow tie.
It really doesn't matter if you're watching liberal media or conservative media - and now, sometimes even "independent" media. Watching the news is something like watching a movie on repeat. If you change the people's clothing and a few of the words here and there, you wouldn't be able to tell whether the broadcast was from 1990 or 2024.
What we have to realize is that the people who decide what is shown on the magic screen benefit from us fighting over which war is the one we should fight. Which party is the correct party. Which stock is the right one to buy to outsmart the others who will lose money. We are set against each other, like an ugly game of Monopoly, War, or Risk, in which the goal is literally to bankrupt or conquer everybody else, at which point we have apparently succeeded.
The hard part to swallow may be that the few who are choosing the narratives chanted through various media are the ones who desire the most control, and therefore are the ones who live in the most fear. At first glance, we may think these are the most powerful among us, but in fact, these are the ones who find it most difficult to bear their pain. Money has power, no doubt, but it has a physical limit. Knowledge, awareness, and love, however, include and simultaneously transcend physicality. No amount of money can buy the power of love.
The intelligence of nature is perfect. Nothing gets by. We are all accountable for our words, thoughts, and actions. Let us choose a narrative that includes opposing forces. This doesn't mean that we cannot be critical or take decisive action. It doesn't mean that everything becomes wishy-washy. On the contrary, everything becomes crystal clear, and the actions we need to take follow.
Love and clarity
